Gibson Buckethead Signature Guitar
November 18th, 2009With the popularity of Guitar Hero and Rockband, it’s a smart move for Gibson to integrate some video game elements into the new Buckethead Signature Guitar. With a button you’ll only find on video game controllers working as a killswitch, maybe we’ll see a analog joystick as a pickup switch in the near future.

Federal Agents and Local Police Raid Gibson Guitars in Nashville
November 18th, 2009Today, Feds from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and local police today seized wood, guitars, computers and boxes of files from Gibson Guitar’s Massman Road manufacturing facility.
Sources say the Nashville-based guitar manufacturer is being investigated for violating the Lacey Act, a key piece of environmental law, for importing endangered species of rosewood from Madagascar.
Rosewood is widely used in the construction of guitars and sells for $5,000 per cubic meter, more than double the price of mahogany. The island nation off Africa’s east coast is a key producer of the hardwood, the export of which has links to international criminal activity.

Splits and Breakups
November 10th, 2009It’s being reported that Steven Tyler has left the band Aerosmith.
“Steven quit as far as I can tell,”
Perry told the Las Vegas Sun. Speaking from his home in Boston, Perry said, “I saw online that Steven said that he was going to leave the band. I don’t know for how long, indefinitely or whatever.”
Last week, Classic Rock magazine also quoted Steven Tyler all but sealing the group’s fate:
“Once the band hit the final note and I walk off stage - then I’ll tell you the whole story,”
the singer said minutes before the concert at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. It’s heartbreaking news to hear such a great band breaking up after all these years.
On the other end, Zakk Wylde talks about his split from Ozzy.
“Well, I’ll tell you how it went down. This is how it went down. Oz and Mom (Sharon Osbourne), they said, ‘Zakk, son, we need to talk to you.’ They sat me down at the kitchen table and said, ‘Zakk, we’re very proud of you, but you’re 42 years old now. We just think it’s about time you take your wife and your kids and you get the fuck outta your bedroom and grow the fuck up and get a job - because me and your mother want to enjoy our life now. I think we’ve done enough. You’re 42, now get the fuck out of the house!’”
